4PM. Project Management Reference & Learning

In 1986, four executives blended their years of project and program expertise and formed 4PM. Each had been a partner in a professional firm or a program executive in a large corporation. Each had years of experience managing projects and portfolios of projects and outstanding track records in developing the project managers who reported to them. The organization's initial mission was to provide project consulting services to organizations that lacked internal resources to manage strategic project. Our methodology produced significant successes. As our contract project management business grew, increasing numbers of clients asked us to teach their internal people the 4PM project methodology. To respond to this client need, our senior staff wrote project management books and developed hands-on training using the same mentoring techniques we used to develop professional firm project managers. Our courses and methodology have evolved but are still based on the philosophy of applying the minimum amount of project management technique to each project as determined by its scale, complexity and risks. As 4PM has expanded over the years, our courses have earned approval from The Project Management Institute (PMI), the American Council on Education (ACE) and the Computer Technology and Industry Association (CompTIA). Our business is now composed of equal parts of training PMs and project/enterprise consulting. All our professional staff members are involved in both aspects of the business which ensures that we retain a strong practical orientation to the practice of project management.
